The first poll conducted after Saturday’s election call suggests the opposition is barking up the wrong tree.
Contempt of Parliament, lobbying scandals, and accusations of election violations are of no concern to most Canadians, according to a Forum Research poll conducted Sunday. It’s still early days in the campaign, but even after the opposition made a big show of bringing down the Conservative government over a contempt of Parliament ruling Friday, and spent the following two days denouncing the Tories’ perceived ethics deficit to anyone who would listen, the issue doesn’t appear to have impacted support for Stephen Harper. The poll shows the Conservatives maintain 41 per cent support among decided voters, with the Liberals trailing far behind at 24 per cent. The NDP has 19 per cent support, and the Bloc Québécois sits at 10 per cent.
