Police Find Three More Bodies on New York Beach

A prolific serial killer is suspected in the deaths of eight people found dumped in the area since last December.

Investigators on Long Island discovered three bodies in the brush beside a quiet stretch of the Ocean Parkway Monday, bringing the total number of corpses found there since December to eight. Police discovered the first body at the end of last year while searching for Shannan Gilbert, a 24-year-old prostitute who went missing in May. So far none of the remains have been identified as hers, but other women found dead on the beach were also prostitutes and, like Gilbert, they advertised on Craigslist. Several of them were seen in budget hotels on Long Island in the months leading up to their deaths. Police believe there could be more bodies on the beach and continue to comb the area.
