The 75-year-old was scavenging for copper.
Let’s hope nobody was downloading anything important. Internet service across Armenia went down for hours on March 28 when a woman in neighbouring Georgia unwittingly severed fibre-optic cables servicing the country. She admitted to severing them with a shovel while looking for valuable copper wires in the village of Ksani. Although she had no idea what she was doing, the woman has been charged by Georgian authorities, and due to her advanced age, released pending trial. A spokesman for the Georgian Railway Telecom Company said the wires are well-protected and such incidents are extremely rare.
