Is Beck too crazy even for Fox News? In a joint statement Wednesday, the network and Beck announced they will be parting ways. Only last year unnamed journalists at Fox were widely quoted as saying they were worried Beck was ruining the channel’s reputation, which would be quite a feat considering the network isn’t exactly known for its high journalistic standards. It seems Fox executives were willing to tolerate his conspiracy theorizing when his ratings were soaring, but since last summer they’ve dropped 40 per cent and advertisers have pulled out in droves over his increasingly bizarre accusations. Lately he has attempted to link Arab uprisings to some sort of international left-wing plot to foment an Islamic revolt.
