With the three federal parties vying for a breakthrough in Quebec, Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe says only he can prevent a Tory majority.
Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe claimed in the French leaders debate that his party is the only one in Quebec that can prevent Stephen Harper's Conservatives from winning a majority government. All four leaders made their respective pitches to Quebec voters during the debate, with Harper urging citizens in the suburban and rural areas outside of Montreal and Quebec City to vote Tory so as not to be left out of government, in a clear call for a majority mandate. NDP Leader Jack Layton, whose party has received record levels of support in Quebec, said he would consider reopening constitutional talks with the province, while Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff focused on discussing the “Family Pack” of policies that are the centrepiece of his party's platform.
