A special polling station at the University of Guelph has drawn the ire of the local Conservative campaign, which claims it violated the Elections Act.

The Conservative party has asked Elections Canada to void the ballots of some 700 students who voted at a special polling station at the University of Guelph. A lawyer for the party alleges that partisan material was set up near the ballot box, which is illegal under the Elections Act. The polling station was one of a number set up to reach out to less-engaged populations, such as students, First Nations, and the disabled, according to Elections Canada. Guelph has hosted the special stations in two previous campaigns, but this is the first time anyone has disputed the practice. Elections Canada is reviewing the Tories' submission, while local candidate Marty Burke has yet to comment on the situation.
