No Beer at Royal Wedding

Buckingham Palace will serve imported wines and champagnes for Kate and William's reception, but no British ales or lagers.

This is as good as any reason to cut Canada off from the monarchy once and for all: No beer will be served at the reception for this week's wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The reception, to be hosted at Buckingham Palace, will be held in the afternoon after the two get hitched at Westminster Abbey, but the revellers will only get to drink champagne or wine. Palace staff said that beer isn't a drink befitting the Queen's residence on such a momentous occasion, and since both Kate and William have said they won't drink during the affair, here's hoping party-hardy Prince Harry will pick up their slack.
