Game 7 between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks forces the B.C. government to delay a meeting on the sales tax.
Playoff hockey, 2; Canadian politics, 0. Two weeks after the first game in the Montreal Canadiens series against the Boston Bruins forced the French leaders' debate to be moved a day, the B.C. government's first town-hall meeting on the harmonized sales tax has been rescheduled around the Vancouver Canucks' Game 7 match-up against the Chicago Blackhawks. The meeting was scheduled for Tuesday night in Victoria, and was to have B.C. Finance Minister Kevin Falcon and Transport Minister Blair Lekstrom discuss how to improve the unpopular tax with people listening in over the telephone. But with the Canucks facing a historic upset if they lose tonight after starting the series up three games to none, the government decided there would be better turnout if the meeting was pushed back to Wednesday.
