A lawsuit filed to have the auditor general's report on spending on the G8 summit released before the election gets shot down.
A last-second attempt to have the auditor general release her final report on the G8/G20 summits has failed, after a Federal Court judge ruled against a lawsuit filed by online activist group Avaaz. A leaked draft of the report pointed to $50 million that might have been misspent in Industry Minister Tony Clement's Ontario riding ahead of the summit, but auditor general Sheila Fraser warned that the final version incorporated substantial changes. Avaaz had sought to have the final report released ahead of election day on May 2 to clear the air over what Fraser's final findings on the summit were.
