Jack Layton and his wife have slammed a Sun News report that says Layton was found and interviewed by police in a massage parlour in 1996.
Jack Layton answered allegations made by a Sun News Network media report issued Friday that said he was interviewed by Toronto police in a suspected bawdyhouse in 1996, calling it a "smear campaign." Layton told reporters in Courtenay, B.C., that "it's unfortunate to see the smear campaign starting in these last few days of the campaign." His wife, Olivia Chow, a Toronto NDP incumbent, also released a statement saying the report was nothing but a "smear campaign." In the statement, Chow said she was aware of the incident, but denied her husband was involved in any wrongdoing.
