A team of forensic experts will be looking for any evidence that could lead to criminal charges being laid.
Forensic experts will begin this week to exhume the bodies of 100 Whistler sled dogs that were allegedly executed in a massive slaughter last year. The team includes those involved with investigating the B.C. property of convicted serial killer Robert Pickton, as well as specialists who have studied mass graves in countries such as Rwanda and Guatemala. The investigators are searching for key elements, such as evidence suggesting the dogs experienced pain and suffering before they died, if criminal charges are to be laid in the case. The province of B.C. and the B.C. SPCA are sharing the cost of the investigation, which could be as much as $225,000.
