Sony's PC gaming network, Sony Online Entertainment, was breached in mid-April, bringing the toll of accounts exposed to above 100 million.
Sony has discovered a security breach of its computer-based Sony Online Entertainment network, adding another 25 million accounts whose data has been exposed to the nearly 80 million uncovered last week. The latest hack occurred between April 16 and 17, just before the massive privacy invasion of the PlayStation Network, in which addresses, email, and other data saved on the console-based network could have been stolen. This time around, names, addresses, emails, birthdates, phone numbers – any information subscribers would have given over when registering to play Sony PC games online – would have been exposed. Both the console and PC networks have been taken offline while Sony deals with the matter.
