The B.C. SPCA says the exhumation of a mass grave of dogs near Whistler could lead to charges.
Animal cruelty charges could soon be laid against the operator of a Whistler, B.C., sled-dog tour company following an exhumation of more than 50 dogs found in a mass grave. The B.C. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) dug up the grave, which contained about 100 sled dogs, to determine whether the dogs had suffered unduly before being killed last spring over concerns the company, Outdoor Adventures, couldn't afford to keep supporting them. The animal welfare group was required to exhume the dead dogs to investigate how they died, and now the SPCA has handed over physical evidence required for the Crown to determine whether to pursue charges against the company.
