The Vanier Cup-winning football team gets an asterisk after banned substances were found in players' urine.
Two players on the championship-winning Laval University football team have tested positive for steroids, casting a pall over one of the country's top athletic programs. Linebacker Michaël Abraham and offensive lineman Steve Vachon have now been banned by Canadian Interuniversity Sport from the Rouge-et-Or for two years. The Quebec City university won the 2010 Vanier Cup over the University of Calgary Dinos last November, but the CIS has not yet said what if any supplementary discipline the program would face in light of the positive tests. Last year, the University of Waterloo suspended its entire football program after nine players failed drug tests.
