Automated phone messages made in Ontario told voters their polling stations had changed at the last minute.
Elections Canada will investigate a slew of automated scam phone calls made in swing ridings on election day that told listeners their polling stations had changed due to high turnout. The calls were reported in at least Ottawa, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Guelph, and prompted dozens of complaints to the elections watchdog. It's unknown who was making the calls, but the 1-800 number given during the message leads to a voice mailbox for a Montreal-area man named Pierre. Elections Canada has 90 days as of May 2 to investigate any claims of wrongdoing during the election and report the results.
