Dorothy Parvaz has been missing since she landed in Syria to cover anti-government protests two weeks ago.

Dorothy Parvaz, a Canadian journalist working for Al Jazeera, has been deported from Syria to Iran, according to the Middle Eastern news network. Parvaz has not been heard from since April 29, when she arrived in Damascus to cover Syria's uprising and the government's bloody response. Syrian authorities had said shortly after that she was in custody but in good health. But this week government officials said Parvaz, who has lived in North Vancouver, was deported to Tehran because she had tried to enter Syria on an expired visa from Iran, where she was born and maintains citizenship. Parvaz's family and boyfriend in Canada have called on both nations to release her.
