Family Guy Creator Bringing Back The Flintstones

Fox decides that three TV shows aren't enough for Seth MacFarlane, and that no franchise can't be remade.

Seth MacFarlane, the brains – if you can call them that – behind Family Guy and The Cleveland Show, will be bringing The Flintstones back to life. Production on the reboot of the iconic 1960s Hanna Barbara cartoon will begin this fall, and is slated to join Fox's already animation-heavy lineup in 2013. MacFarlane began his career as an animator for Hanna Barbara, and says that his version wouldn't change too much of the original's formula of Stone-Age sight gags and traditional sitcom set-pieces. The project shouldn't be too much of a jump for MacFarlane – after all, Family Guy features a boorish, overweight man, his red-headed wife, a truculent child, and a non-traditional pet, although we'd be more than happy to see Dino portrayed as an alcoholic, a la Brian. Yabba-dabba-booze, anyone?
