With the increase of e-book sales over printed versions on Amazon, we might be able to save some trees after all.
Digital books are outselling regular paper books, Amazon Inc. announced on Thursday. Though the powerhouse online retailer didn't divulge the sales for its e-books, it did reveal that for every 100 printed books it has sold since April 1, it has sold 105 e-books. This includes both hardcover and paperback books, but not free downloads. Amazon also said that its price-reduced Kindle e-reader, which costs $25 less than its most expensive version, is outselling the original Kindle. The Kindle is considered the best-selling device for digital books.
