The meeting between the U.S. and Israeli leaders promises to be tense after their disagreement over the pre-1967 borders between Israel and Palestine.
U.S. President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to meet today in Washington, just a day after Obama said the borders between Palestine and Israel should be based on the lines that existed before the 1967 war. In response, Netanyahu called the pre-1967 borders "indefensible" and, though he said he appreciated Obama's "commitment to peace," he reminded the president of commitments made to Israel by the U.S. in 2004. According to an Israeli official travelling with Netanyahu, there is "a feeling that Washington does not understand the reality, doesn't understand what we face."
