The trio wants some changes, including the interim leader's right to run for permanent leadership.
Three high-ranking Quebec Liberals released an open letter to the media today arguing that other powerful Liberals have little regard for reform and that the interim party leader should be able to seek permanent leadership. Not only do Steve Pinkus, Désirée McGraw, and Rachel Bendayan outline their ideal characteristics for an interim leader, but they also write of their experience with the Liberal party's 2006 Renewal Commission, and the party's failure to actually renew. They also believe the decision of who becomes the interim leader should be made by "both the Liberal caucus and party members," and not by "backroom deals among party elites."
