Iceland Eruption Forces Airspace Closure

Grimsvotn's eruption isn't expected to have as much impact on travel as last year's eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano.

The eruption of Iceland's Grimsvotn volcano has forced its international airport, and other airspaces on the island, to close on Sunday. Grimsvotn, the country's most active volcano, erupted Saturday for the first time since 2004, shooting ash and smoke twenty kilometres into the air. However, officials say it is unlikely the volcano will have the same disruptive impact as last spring's eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano, which closed down a large section of European airspace for five days.
