Bombings occur on the same day British troops withdraw, and raising questions about Iraq's ability to protect itself.
At least eighteen people were killed and eighty people were wounded when fifteen bombs detonated Sunday within hours of each other in Baghdad. The bombings, which occurred the same day Britain withdrew its remaining troops from Iraq, was the latest in a string of attacks over recent weeks that have caused concern over Iraq's ability to protect itself. Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki plans to meet with other Iraqi political leaders this month to discuss the possibility of U.S. troops remaining in the country past their withdrawal deadline of January 1, 2012.
