The BBC might wish it could go back in time to find a British manufacturer for replicas of Dr. Who's iconic apparel.
Fans of the British TV show Dr. Who are incensed that the new company contracted to produce replicas of the tweed jacket worn by its titular hero is Canadian. Mount Pearl, Nfld.'s AbbyShot Clothiers signed a deal with the BBC to manufacture the replica tweed jackets after Matt Smith, the current Dr. Who, found that the Scottish-made Harris Tweed jackets didn't keep him warm enough during filming. A Scottish MP, as well as Harris Tweed and a host of fans online, took offence to the BBC's decision to outsource the merchandise to Canada, decrying the move as a slap to the show's profoundly British sensibilities and the indigenous tweed industry.
