Friday's evacuation is just the latest development in a series of floodings that has hit northern B.C.
Authorities issued a flood evacuation order Friday night for a rural area in Norther British Columbia, just outside the town of Smithers. The B.C. River Forecast Centre issued the warning after heavy rain and melted snow swelled the Bulkley river near Smithers and Houston. Water levels are expected to rise throughout the weekend. Another flood warning has been issued for Cranbrook after the Joseph River overran its banks in some places. There's also cause for concern as water levels in other rivers in the area are also rising.
