With a massive physics experiment installed in the International Space Station, the space shuttle Endeavor heads home.
The second-last NASA space shuttle mission is drawing to a close, as the shuttle Endeavor disembarked from the International Space Station this morning, heading back to Earth. The six-member crew was responsible for installing what, in layman's terms, is a giant space magnet that will be used to monitor the universe for signs of dark matter. They also performed the four final spacewalks done by a shuttle crew during their 16-day sojourn. Endeavor is expected back at Cape Canaveral, Fla., for Wednesday morning. The last shuttle flight, to be flown by Atlantis, will launch July 8, after which all four space shuttles will be retired and sent to museums around the U.S.
