The attack against the U.S. public broadcaster came in response to a documentary on WikiLeaks.
Hackers targeted the PBS website yesterday, posting stories saying that rapper Tupac Shakur was still alive. They did this in response to a documentary aired on the public broadcaster that they felt was unfairly critical of WikiLeaks. The article claiming that Shakur was alive and well in New Zealand was quickly taken down by PBS, but three of its news sites were still reportedly under attack as of Tuesday morning. A group called the Lulz Boat has claimed responsibility for the cyber attack, and it also posted login information to PBS's internal sites online. Shakur, unfortunately, is very likely still as dead as he was when he was shot to death in 1996.
