A court has denied the general's appeal to remain in Serbia due to mental and physical health concerns.

Ratko Mladic, the Bosnian Serb general accused of orchestrating massacres during the Bosnian civil war, could be extradited to a war-crimes tribunal in the Netherlands within 24 hours after a Serbian court denied his appeal to stay in the country. Mladic, who was granted a brief visit to his daughter's grave in Belgrade early Tuesday morning, filed an appeal in court on grounds that he wasn't healthy enough to stand trial. The 69-year-old is facing charges of genocide for his role in the Srebrenica massacre that killed more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim boys and men, and for organizing the 43-month siege of Sarajevo.
