Average prices will rank only behind those of the Toronto Maple Leafs to ensure the franchise is financially secure.
Now that Winnipeg has its NHL team, it's time for the city to put its money where its mouth is. The as-yet-unnamed franchise will charge, on average, $82 a ticket, the same as the Montreal Canadiens and more than every other Canadian team except for, of course, the Toronto Maple Leafs ($114). In addition, True North Sports and Entertainment, the ownership group that bought the Atlanta Thrashers, hopes to sell 13,000 season tickets starting this Saturday, which would leave only about 2,000 tickets available for each game at the 15,015-seat MTS Centre. People who owned season tickets for the Manitoba Moose, the American Hockey League team that will leave town to make way for the new NHL franchise, will get the first crack at the new tickets today.
