Convictions on 22 counts of luring a child online net a bus driver a sentence 22 times longer than he'd ever get in Canada.
An Ontario man has been sentenced to 110 years in a U.S. prison for attempting to lure a 14-year-old Virginia girl online. Alan Sauve, a 48-year-old from Windsor, Ont., was arrested last year in Michigan after police intercepted messages he was sending back and forth with the youth from Louisa, Va., in which he posed as a 16-year-old for the purposes of meeting up to have sex. He was charged with 22 counts of soliciting a child under 15 for sex online, and pleaded not guilty. The offence carries a maximum sentence of five years in Canada, but Sauve's sentence is the longest in Virginia's history for the crime.
