A new bill passed in Tennessee prevents people from mooching stream media from others.
As of July 1, it will be illegal for people living in Tennessee to use someone else's login to stream movies or music via Netflix and Rhapsody. Anyone caught sharing login info and stealing less than $500 could be charged with a misdemeanor with a possible jail sentence and a fine of $2500. An automatic felony would be given to those who steal more than $500. The bill is meant to target hackers and illegal music traffickers, but it also applies to those who share subscription info outside of their home. Things get a little tricky for those who are using other people's devices to access their own login info, but as long as people keep it to a minimum, those small violations should go undetected.
