Nearly a year after the summit began, a Toronto police officer alleged to have assaulted Dorian Barton is charged.
A second police officer has been charged with assault causing bodily harm stemming from incidents during the G20 summit in downtown Toronto last year. Const. Glenn Weddell was charged today following lengthy investigations into which officers could be responsible for tackling and arresting Dorian Barton, who suffered a broken arm, a black eye, and bruises all over his body. Barton, a cookie maker, had been taking pictures of a police horse when an officer with a riot shield blindsided him. Weddell's charge follows those pressed against Const. Babak Andalib-Goortani, who is alleged to have assaulted protester Adam Nobody with a baton.
