Lisa Raitt's summer is gearing up to be a busy one with plans to force locked-out Canada Post employees back to work.
Labour Minister Lisa Raitt has signalled to CTV that she will introduce back-to-work legislation to end the Canada Post lockout, one day after she said she'd use the same tactic to end the Air Canada strike. Raitt has said she had hoped the two sides would be able to reach a negotiated settlement, but with Canada Post locking out its employees last night after 11 days of rotating strikes across the country, that appears unlikely. Raitt won't introduce a measure in the Canada Post stoppage until after the Air Canada legislation has passed, which could happen as soon as Thursday. Canada Post has said it locked out its 48,000 workers to halt the $100 million in losses it's sustained since the rotating strikes began.
