An all-too-predictable reaction to the Canucks' defeat has the city's residents coming together to hold the rioters and looters to account.
Broken windows, burning cars, and fist fights took over downtown Vancouver as hundreds of despondent Canucks fans rioted following the team's loss to the Boston Bruins last night. Dozens of people were taken to hospital for tear gas exposure after police began dispersing the unruly crowds, while dozens more were taken to police stations to be charged. The scene was sadly a rehash of the post-game chaos following the Canucks' Game Seven loss to the New York Rangers in the 1994 Stanley Cup final. However, a Facebook campaign has been launched to identify the looters and rioters who besmirched the city's good name and reputation, with some 20,000 Vancouverites already having joined to help restore some dignity to the city's downtown.
