Air Canada Back to Normal After Strike

... and by 'normal' we mean with spotty customer service, outrageous prices, long lines, and hilariously enforced bilingualism.

Air Canada is ready for takeoff following yesterday's agreement between the airline and the union representing 3,800 striking service staff. The ticketing agents and call-centre workers were expected back on the job this morning after the Canadian Auto Workers union and Air Canada agreed to a four-year collective agreement. The deal, which has yet to be ratified, would incorporate only minor changes to existing pension plans, while further details will be hammered out through arbitration. Labour Minister Lisa Raitt, who had threatened to pass back-to-work legislation to end the strike, said she was pleased with the hasty reconciliation.
