NATO's admission of civilian deaths leads top foreign officials to wonder if it's time to end military intervention in Libya.
Amr Moussa, the chief of the Arab League, and Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini have both called for a cease fire in Libya following reports of NATO airstrikes accidentally killing civilians. Moussa, whose term is ending soon, said that after three months of the NATO campaign it's time to engage the Gadhafi regime with the hope of finding a political end to the conflict. Frattini said a temporary cease fire is “essential” for getting aid to those who need it in besieged cities such as Misrata. Frattini's call for a cease fire makes him the highest-ranking official from a country engaged in the Libyan airstrikes to publicly urge for them to stop, even if only temporarily.
