Officials say the policy is intended to protect the privacy of the board's youngest students.
A Winnipeg school board is banning students and their families from uploading photos and videos taken at school to the internet. The Winnipeg School Division, a public school board covering most of the Manitoba capital, said the measure was intended to protect the privacy of young students, and would extend to any photos taken at after-hours school events and off-campus activities. The board says photos and videos can be uploaded so long as everyone who appears in them gives their permission, but principals will be charged with making students and parents take media down if that permission hasn't been granted.
