Hundreds of people came to pay respect for the humanitarian and "great Canadian".
Betty Fox was honoured Saturday at a service in the same United Church in Port Coquitlam, B.C., where her son Terry’s short life was celebrated after he died June 28, 1981. Fox was remembered as a humanitarian who helped fight cancer by continuing Terry's Marathon of Hope long after his death through the Terry Fox Foundation. About 300 family, friends and dignitaries, including B.C. Premier Christy Clark and NDP leader Adrian Dix, were among those who paid their respect to Fox, who died at 73 on June 17 from an undisclosed illness.
