Canada Post workers say they'll comply with the back-to-work law, but they're none too thrilled about it.
Postal workers are expected to be back on the job on Tuesday, after the Conservative government's back-to-work legislation was speedily passed by the Senate and given royal assent by Gov. Gen. David Johnston on Sunday night. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers, representing about 48,000 Canada Post employees who had been locked out for nearly two weeks, said its members would comply with the law, but weren't necessarily too thrilled about being forced to accept a deal that will see them get paid less than they would have under the deal previously offered by Canada Post. The four-year deal passed by the House of Commons was met by stiff resistance from the NDP, which staged a two-day marathon debate just as Parliament was set to rise for the summer.
