The Supreme Court says freedom of speech guarantees a child's right to play violent video games.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that a California ban on selling violent video games to minors is unconstitutional, meaning Golden State teenagers with the funds to do so can freely kill terrorists, Nazis, zombies, drug addicts, and even every day, law-abidin' civilians on their television screens. The bench decided that preventing minors from buying games deemed offensive was an infringement on their right to free speech. California's ban has been held up since 2005 due to a number a lower-court challenges, and it's not like teens wouldn't have been able to get their parents, or (Ã la liquor-store purchases) a generous passerby, to buy the games for them. But, in ruling that the ban is unconstitutional, the court sets precedent for free and fair access to the grimiest and goriest of adventures for all future generations of gamers.
