Postal Workers Back on the Job

Delays are expected for at least a few days while Canada Post deals with the massive backlog of mail that has accumulated since the lockout began.

Canada Post employees head back to work today, and with two weeks of mail having accumulated since they were locked out, they face a tough slog before service returns to normal. About 48,000 workers are back on the job, but, if their union is any indication, they're none too happy about having to return at the demand of the government, and for less money than they were anticipating when they first hit the picket lines for rotating strikes earlier this month. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says that, while it expects all its members to obey the back-to-work law, relations with management are bound to remain frosty for the foreseeable future.
