A crackdown outside of a memorial service for victims of the uprising leads to renewed calls for hastened reform where Egypt's revolution began.
Egyptian citizens dissatisfied with the country's slow pace to reform clashed with security forces in Tahrir Square for a second day, with about 600 people injured in the protest. The fighting erupted after police attacked families lined up outside a theatre in Cairo where a memorial service was being held for those killed in the January uprising. Those clashes led to as many as 5,000 people taking to Tahrir Square to call for an end to the military junta's rule, which the police responded to with riot squads and batons, as they're wont to do. Police have since withdrawn from the square on the orders of Prime Minister Essam Sharaf. Relatives of many of the uprising's victims have voiced their displeasure with how long it's taken to bring justice to members of the state security forces who led the crackdown against civilian protesters.
