The list of the 50 new appointees includes War Child Canada co-founder Samantha Nutt and media personality Bob MacDonald.
Gov. Gen. David Johnston announced 50 new appointees to the Order of Canada, one of the country's highest civilian honours, Thursday. The Canadians receiving the special nod include women's hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser, global health scientist Peter Singer, writers Malcolm Gladwell and Nino Ricci, and actor Eugene Levy. This year's list is smaller than last year's 74 appointees, and no one was named a Companion of the Order of Canada, the highest degree of recognition. As of yet, there is no scheduled date for the ceremony.
