RCMP Says G8 Site 'Ideal' for Assassins

As it turns out, the G8/G20 summits could have gone even worse than they already did.
Looks like organizers of last year's G8 summit in Huntsville, Ont., dodged a bit of a bullet – a new RCMP review concluded that the summit site was an "ideal" location for snipers to assassinate eight of the world's most important leaders. The internal assessment found that the hills and forests surrounding the Deerhurst resort afforded would-be assassins ample cover from which they could pick off heads of state or sneak through the woods late at night for a more personal attack. Of course, no one was so much as bruised during the G8 summit, what with the thousands of police officers from across Canada descending on cottage country for two days. Thanks to them, the summit's legacy is just the $50 million in seriously questionable spending uncovered by the auditor general, and not an early end to, say, Silvio Berlusconi's career.
