A daring attempt to leave a harbour in Crete ends with a raid by Greek authorities.
The Greek coast guard has boarded a Canadian ship that intended to sail to Gaza to deliver aid packages after it tried to leave a harbour on the island of Crete. The Tahrir, a ship hosting 30 Canadians, as well as citizens from Belgium, Italy, Turkey, and Switzerland, had attempted to make it to international waters before coast guard vessels hosed it down with a water cannon. Armed coast guard officials boarded the Tahrir, with no reports of injuries or clashes. The ship has been redirected back to port. Whether the activists will face charges, like the American captain of the Audacity of Hope, which unsuccessfully tried to leave port on Friday, is unknown at this time.
