French Yacht Leaves Greece For Gaza

The flotilla has been reduced to just one ship, as Greece's ban on vessels heading to Gaza leaves the nine other boats tied up in port.
Only one of the 10 boats that had planned to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza will actually make it that far, meaning we can't really call the whole endeavour a “flotilla” any more. The MV Dignite/Al Karama, a French yacht, was the only vessel to make it out of Greece, after that country banned all boats and ships in its ports from leaving for Gaza. Two Canadians from a contingent of 30 were arrested yesterday for attempting to break that ban. Greece claims the ban is for the safety of the activists on board, as last year's flotilla ended in a bloody raid by Israeli commandos that led to the deaths of nine civilians aboard one of the boats.
