You know it's a slow day for Calgary's finest when ...
Police in Calgary held a tense eight-hour standoff against a house that didn't have anyone inside over the weekend. Police first showed up to the suburban house early Saturday morning on reports of a gunshot and arguments, and quickly arrested a man in the house on weapons charges. However, the man, as well as neighbours, told police that there could still be people in the house, leading the cops to call in more than a dozen cruisers, a firetruck, and ambulances as they surrounded the property. They then released tear gas canisters into the home, told neighbours to hide out in their basements, and waited – for eight hours – until they decided to knock down the door, at which point they discovered the house was empty.
