Fast food chains sell out, will provide such exotic offerings as "fruit" and "vegetables."
America's top artery cloggers, including Burger King, IHOP, Chili's, and Denny's, have signed on to a voluntary pledge to offer healthier menu items for children. Nineteen chain restaurants will now feature at least one meal that contains less than 600 calories, and at least one side dish with fewer than 200 calories, which, if you ask us, defeats the entire purpose of going to Burger King in the first place, but hey, good on them, we suppose. IHOP is meeting its targets by undertaking the revolutionary concept of replacing homefries with fresh fruit, while Denny's has pitched in with the noble gesture of removing photos of french fries from their menus. The pact comes as the Food and Drug Administration prepares to require all chain restaurants to post the calories in each meal on menus.
