Will John Hamm finally win an Emmy as Mad Men's Don Draper? Can Parks & Recreation beat Modern Family for Best Comedy?
The nominees for the 2011 Emmy Awards are out, and, with a slew of nominations for Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire, HBO looks poised to hearken back to the golden years of The Sopranos. The two series are both up for best drama, alongside Mad Men, which picked up 19 nods altogether, Dexter, Friday Night Lights, and The Good Wife. The two are also up for a handful of acting and production awards. This could also finally be Jon Hamm's year to win the title of best actor in a drama for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men, as three-time winner Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad (the best show on television) isn't in the running this year. ABC's Modern Family leads the comedy field with seven nominations (including FOUR just for best supporting actor), but our money is on Parks & Recreation to take the award for best comedy. Steve Carrell, Louis CK of the brilliant Louie, Alec Baldwin, and The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki are all up for best actor in a comedy.
