The march's planners pledge non-violence as they call for Palestinian independence.
For the first time in 20 years, Israeli Arabs and Jews will march together in Jerusalem to call for Palestinian independence tomorrow. Thousands of people are expected to take part in the rally, which will follow the opposite course of a march held by conservative Israelis during last month's Jerusalem Day. The march's organizers claim that this is the first such joint Jewish-Arab event to take place in Jerusalem since 1991, and that it's the product of a generation that's fed up with political extremism on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian borders. The marchers expect to meet numerous counter-protests along the route, but have pledged to refrain from violence.
