The Libya Contact Group could authorize the UN to approach Gadhafi with a peace plan.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird and a couple dozen of his counterparts are meeting in Turkey right now to discuss how to further support the Transitional National Council as the NATO-led campaign in North Africa drags into its fifth month. The Libya Contact Group will also review a plan drawn up by Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan to bring an end to the fighting in Libya. The group of foreign ministers and other parties will apparently authorize the UN to approach Gadhafi with a peace package that would include an immediate ceasefire and a call for the Libyan leader to step down. Also on the agenda will be talks over how much more aid to give to the TNC, which will be recognized by the group as the official representative of Libya.
